Case Head Tilt wobbly Willoughby 11-11-08
Willoughby is a 13 year old male Whippet with no prior
problems. Two days before presentation to the
Colts Neck Animal Clinic the owner reported that
Willoughby fell and then his vomited food last night.
Today on presentation he has his head tilted to the right with right ear facing the ground , trembling, horizontal nystagmus (eyes are constantly moving back and forth( left to right and right to left like a pendulum.) not eating and lethargic .
A sign or symptom possibly revealing that Willoughby
may not have been feeling well was his increased need to
be near the owner (acting clingy) prior to these
symptoms.
Taking into consideration all the symptoms in order to
figure out the remedy best for the case we note the
following: clingy, thirstless, anorexia , movement of
the eye balls, dizziness and head turning.
Two remedies fit the case very well, there names are not relevant because they will not work in all cases with a head tilt, unless all the symptoms are the same. I gave the first Remedy A and Willoughby began to eat the next day but not much more improved.
After 3 days he began to become very weak , not hungry again, not thirsty and did not want to go outside. The owner wondered if the dog was in pain and was very concerned .
At this time second Remedy B was administered. The
next day the dog was much better and going out on his
own and had increased energy. After 1 week Willoughby
was acting almost completely normal. His is doing great
now.
