Case of “A bad back that becomes a pain in the neck” 10-02-06
Mac is a Pekinese 11 years old who presented to Colts Neck Animal Clinic , 4 days prior was at the local Emergency Hospital, (where he was treated with antibiotics and prednisone). Max presented with the following symptoms:
reluctant to move ,very irritable and sensitive to touch cries out in pain(pain everywhere). No fever and otherwise normal. The care giver claimed that Mac was walking stiffly before the onset of severe pain. After administration of the Prednisone the pain disappeared but he had a decreased appetite and weak hind legs.
This is a sign of suppression of disease, the symptom of pain is gone but the patient feels worse and has not improved as a whole. Disease is to be cured on an energetic level. Like medicine heals like disease. This is the principle of homeopathy.
A homeopathic remedy was given to hold and use when
the pain returned It is important for the body to come
out of the suppression and then be treated for the
original illness not the artificial one caused by the
drugs. Remedy “A” ( the name is not important because
the remedy fits the mental and physical symptoms of the
patient at the time of presentation to the doctor.
The remedy used in this case will not work for all pets with decreased appetite and weak partially paralyzed legs therefore I will not be talking about the remedy but rather the healing process as it should occur.
24 hours after Remedy A was given (2 days later when
the pain returned) the next day day the owner reported
that Mac was much better , eating now able to walk
without pain but this improvement lasted 2 days and then
the dog was only able to use the front legs and the back
was humped up , next remedy B was given .
Was better for 2 days . But then new symptoms there
were leg spasms , left leg is jerking but less irritable
and still eating , we are getting closer , I believe
after Prednisone the symptoms are not very clear and it
is difficult for the Homeopath to see the picture
as it was before the drug administration and therefore
the case
needs to be figured out .Admittedly I used only acute
remedies in the beginning of the case and did finally
give a so called chronic remedy which is deep acting
and goes deeper in the the vital force or the inner
working of the body . Remedy C was now used that seemed
to fit well to the symptoms and Mac improved was back to
normal but after 2 days went down the steps and was in
pain again , he was not as bad as when he began
homeopathy . At this time I realized it had to be
chronic disease and would be needing a deeper acting
remedy , I gave Remedy XYZ and Mac slowly improved over
a 4 day period .
Slow improvement is a very good sign in homeopathy because it is the body that is healing itself . Sometimes a rapid improvement just does not last as we saw in this case.
Mac did very well for 2 years and then developed a
small cough and a gag . Otherwise acting normal,
temperature and heart normal . He was vomiting white
foam and worse when excited . In the past 2 years he had
choking fits which did not last long .This was an
indication he needed more treatment. Remedy “ G” was
given on 11-25-08 and the choking was gone the next day
( the remedy was an acute remedy) . But after 6 days the
choking was gone and the back pain from 2 years ago
returned not as bad and was very restless (always moving
around) . This restlessness was different from the
symptoms 2 years ago when Mac would not move. So I gave
the Remedy which was used 2 years prior and Mac improved
for a day but then was in pain again .
If a Remedy is given at the same potency 2 years later it may work but may not last because the vital force is stronger and has already been effected by that level of energy (high power needed) therefore a higher potency could is often necessary, which is what was administered . It was also noted on exam that the back pain was improved but the neck was very painful .
A chiropractic therapy was administered and Remedy
XYZ (the remedy from 2 years ago) at different potency.
Mac improved a bit right after the adjustment and then
when on to heal over the next week.
